I was somewhat disappointed with this recipe after seeing all of the rave reviews. I decorate cakes for a side job and I had a client who wanted a really good homemade yellow block for her husband'south altogether. I don't get a request for a yellow cake very often and then I went looking for a recipe and institute this one. I fabricated one for me to effort at the aforementioned time I made the one to decorate. I did not overbake the cake, followed the directions as is and it came out dry, heavy and very crumbly. The flavor was fair merely the texture was awful. I ended upwardly brushing the customer's block with a vanilla unproblematic syrup and blanket it with a glaze earlier icing it in hopes it would taste meliorate and hold up improve. I was hoping for a fluffy, tasty cake but this was not it. I will not make this again.
08/20/2007
I fabricated this cake for my son'south 3rd altogether. As others have said, it is very dense and heavy. It was also very moist and tasted great. Everyone at the party loved it. I did have to broil information technology for nigh twice as long every bit recommended in the recipe but it was worth the await. I will definitely arrive again for a friend'southward birthday in a few weeks time.
12/14/2005
I ran late and needed to broil a block just as the guests were arriving, so had to make shortcuts. I softened the butter in the microwave and mixed the eggs in without separating them and the cake even so turned out smashing! I did take to lower the oven temperature to 300 afterward 15 mins though, since I saw that the block was browning too much on top and was however undone inside (convection air oven). It too make a huge cake and would accept overflowed had I non used equally big a cake pan every bit I did. I sifted cocoa powder over it (quick and less fattening than frosting and anyhow the cake was still warm and would've melted any frosting!) and it looked elegant. The guests loved it! Very buttery smooth and just every bit delicious the next twenty-four hour period after refridgeration. Dandy recipe since it uses bones ingredients on hand that one could only throw in one go. This is a keeper!!!
09/21/2008
This cake came out beautifully, but I only gave information technology 4 stars because I had to make a lot of adjustments. Get-go of all, brand certain to soften the butter earlier you mix it. This makes information technology easier to work with and helps melt the sugar. Secondly, I would decrease the corporeality of carbohydrate in this recipe past about half a loving cup because it turned out very sweetness. Thirdly, I had to add an extra half cup of milk to the recipe to smooth out the batter. And lastly, it was necessary for me to increment the cooking fourth dimension by an extra 20 minutes earlier information technology was washed. Even so, with all of those adjustments, the cake turned out very moist, fluffy and sweetness. I will definitely make this again!

This is the best birthday block in the earth and I have fabricated a lot of cakes. Utilize real butter if you can! It rises beautifully and is of perfect texture. I used a cream chees icing. Ane 8 oz. block cream cheese, 1/2 cup marg. 1tsp. vanilla and nearly iv cups icing sugar. YUMMY!! Thanks for the recipe. Susan from Nova Scotia, Canada
09/xviii/2002
This year I wanted to make my yard daughters birthday cake and I used this recipe. I must say it was very delicious. I added my own frosting but overall I had enough cake to feed everyone at the political party and the all-time part of it was that they all thought I brought it from a bakery. They ate all of the block the same night so two days later I fabricated some other one.
06/06/2006
I don't know why some others say it is packy. If y'all follow the recipe to the letter, information technology comes out bang-up. Be sure you are sifting your flour/baking powder mixture, and fluffing your egg whites. Thanks for the keeper!!
08/04/2001
A skilful basic recipe. It tasted skilful.
06/nineteen/2007
love the cake! instead of three 9 inch pans i used ii and double deckered the cake :)
02/19/2006
neat cake. I used it to make my son's birthday railroad train cake, inside a Wilton train pan. When I cut off the extra from the top and tried information technology, information technology tasted dandy! I did modify it a bit though, I used almond excerpt instead of vanilla, and I used buttermilk instead of milk. nifty recipe!!!
11/18/2001
I made this cake for my girl'due south birthday. Information technology was dry simply it didn't sense of taste too bad. I was afraid that it might. Information technology came out of the oven smelling similar an omlet. I had high hopes because of the other reviews but I was and so disappointed. I had lots of people at the party who I'grand agape thing I'm a bad cook now. At least the icing I fabricated to get on it fabricated information technology sense of taste better. I won't make information technology again.
06/18/2010
Hey guys, this is a good recipe....I have a business and a customer was looking for a white/yellow cake base with strawberry filling and a buttercream frosting. THIS IS IT!!! This block reminds me a lot of another coconut cake I make that I get lots of rave reviews for. This will be the cake I use for children's parties and adults every bit well!! Cheers Ballad for the recipe!
04/11/2012
This altogether cake is accented perfection... first fourth dimension to make it, followed the directions exactly. I was able to make a 2-tier cake with this recipe (one 10" round & one 8" round). Cooked 45 mins. convection oven (the viii" was done at 35 mins). I covered the cake with sliced fresh strawberries (mixed strawberries in organic yogurt), bananas, kiwi and spread melted chocolate but on outside of bottom layer. The block itself was not too sugariness, so the toppings I had added complimented information technology perfectly that everyone at the BDay party wanted 2nds. (please see my photograph)
08/23/2005
This cake was succulent- a overnice, slightly dense, moist cake. It was actually my first layer block (so I followed all steps carefully), and it baked very well. I made it with Lemon Cream Cheese Frosting (also submitted past Carol)- yum. I will definitely exist making it again!
11/25/2009
Tried this recipe because our town bakery stopped making cakes on weekends, my daughter turned one on a Sunday and I was not going to make a box cake for her 1st altogether. I must say I was scared to death, my family unit tin exist harsh and everyone has every bit opinion. Started the cake on the morn of the party, set it out to absurd. My sister recommended injecting it with rasberry preserves, we made a bones butter cream icing, layered it with icing and sparse layer of rasberry preserves. 3 layers in all. sprinkled white chocolate over the acme. We put pink decorative icing on the elevation and a beautiful pinkish candle. I was so nervous when we sang Happy Birthday and nosotros cut the cake. Everyone started to compliment me, and I was dubbed the official birthday cake maker from now on. My husband said that the block made our little 1's special 24-hour interval fifty-fifty improve. Thanks for posting the recipe that fabricated my hubby proud of me and my efforts. I experience bad that I had never attempted making a cake for our 16yr quondam all these years. If you demand a great tasting cake try this recipe. Highly recommend it.
03/02/2010
I used this recipe each week while attending a cake decorating class and it turned out great each time. The secret is folding in those difficult egg white before baking- I noticed a big modify when I missed that footstep.
03/17/2001
I really needed this recipe to work since I'd promised to make my friend a birthday cake and I hadn't made one from scracth in years - and it didn't disappoint! I used cocky-raising flour instead of plain flour (I call back that's what'southward mean by all-purpose?) and pulley carbohydrate considering I am so bad at mixing out lumps... The result was a dream. It was the lightest cake I've ever tasted and had a beautiful taste to information technology. Everyone loved the block and asked for the recipe, so I pointed them towards this one. Thanks a lot! Information technology was divine.
04/02/2003
This recipe did not work for me. It smelled like an omelette and tasted like flour. It had the consistancy of a pound cake and was very dry out. I followed the directions precisely. I will not use this one once more
04/09/2012
This cake is really good. I use the "Wedding Cake Frosting" recipe for this block. Sometimes I utilize almond extract instead of the vanilla.
12/21/2004
I fabricated this for my brother's birthday yesterday and topped information technology with Chocolate Frosting I, also on this site. Information technology was great! My whole family loved information technology, one person saying "This is definately ameliorate than boxed block!" I'yard not a fantastic baker, I tin can admit information technology, but this was easy plenty for me. It was worth the extra work of whipping the egg whites considering it fabricated the block nice and moist. And yes, information technology does olfactory property similar an omelet coming out of the oven as others have mentioned, but it does Non sense of taste similar one!
03/twenty/2002
I wouldn't advise information technology for a kids birthday cake equally it is a little to eggy and not really sweetness enough for a children's birtday cake. Overall, this was a pretty yummy dessert!
10/12/2011
Literally tasted like a store-bought altogether cake, but fluffier and lighter. Really good recipe for a basic easy to make birthday block.
05/11/2005
Delicious! I use this all the time now for family birthdays, alternate with the Blackness Magic Cake, also on this site. Be sure to follow directions as far as calculation the beaten egg whites separately. I sometimes substitute i cup of canned coconut milk for the milk, and utilize the frosting from Coconut Cake II from this site, likewise using kokosnoot milk in place of regular milk. Thanks, Carol, for this recipe!
x/07/2010
After reading the reviews I decided to give this cake a effort for my daughters 18th altogether. I did cut down on the sugar past 1/2 a cup and increased the milk past 1/3 cup approx. I besides had to increase the cooking fourth dimension by xx-25 minutes. The end effect was a light even so business firm, fluffy textured evenly colored sponge. I will def. keep this recipe.
03/04/2011
non bad; very sugariness though, depends on your personal taste
01/03/2011
This was delicious. I made it using vegan substitutions and information technology nonetheless turned out fantastic. It is dense, and information technology did have most twice the baking time as recommended (about fifty min to an hour) but it was moist and exactly what I wanted. I used butterscotch flavoring in the cake for a picayune extra something and almond flavoring in my frosting.
02/02/2003
The starting time time I fabricated this, it came out very dense. I had listened to a reviewer who said you don't accept to bother separating the eggs. This time around I followed the directions, and information technology came out beautifully. Light and moist with a dandy texture. I added a second tsp. of vanilla, and it had a wonderful season. This is my new favorite yellow cake recipe. Thank you!
02/04/2011
Turned out good...very heavy but practiced, sweet and pretty. Like gustatory modality to pound block. Worked for making a princess cake for my four yr onetime.
09/14/2003
I like this recipe for a birthday block and it tastes keen! If you make information technology properly, it is light, soft with texture resembling a chiffon block. I as well tried information technology on as cupcakes, changed the flavor to cheese and added ane cup of grated cheddar cheese and I had cheese cupcakes. I likewise tried it with cinnamon powder and I had cinnnamon cupcakes. All of these I served during my daughter's birthday party and everyone loved it! Cheers Carol.
12/21/2006
This cake was great. Imade it for my brothers altogether with my chocolate crean cheese frosting and every body loved it.
07/03/2011
I fabricated this cake in a 9x13. I made it exactly the mode information technology read except a added just a pocket-sized amount (didn't measure) of milk at the end considering the batter was Really thick. The only matter that I noticed was that later xxx minutes at 350 the knife came out covered in raw concoction. The block was quite dark at the point so I turned the oven down to 300 and cooked another 10 minutes. Came out of the pan pretty well. I haven't had a slice yet but the crumbs were tasty and my 2 year old son pinched a clamper out of itand wanted more more more! This cake does seem very dumbo but I don't know why that would exist a bad thing.
01/06/2003
very moist. I make a 3 layer cake with vanilla frosting. I made it a calendar week in advance and froze it and it was wonderful. will apply again!
11/29/2005
I used this recipe to make cupcakes for my daughter's course and they turned out delicious. I had many parents and teachers tell me how adept they were. Thank you for a delicious, fabricated from scratch, cake recipe.
05/27/2007
This is a actually skilful block mix. I use it for my cake business concern. I am so glad that I establish it. Thanks for sharing information technology.
11/07/2001
I made this cake for my son´s birthday and he and his friends loved it. Splendid recipe. The block is lite and fluffy, goes great with the Lady Baltimore Frosting, also from this site.
03/18/2009
I made this at the concluding minute this night as a surprise for my married man'southward altogether and it turned out great!!! I actually cut the recipe in half to brand one medium sized block and I still had to bake it for a good 35 minutes, but in the end it was perfect, calorie-free but moist... I topped it with a simple buttercream icing and end upshot=hubby ate 3 pieces :)
02/14/2011
I made this block for my husband, I but wanted something to put on the table for Valentine's. I read the reviews just made the recepie as is. It was Delicious. My hubby LOVED IT. I don't recollect information technology came out dense because I made it exactly like the recepie. I did still did only half of ingredients since information technology was but for ii but seriously it was pretty big, it could have been for 10 people having big pieces! Then, plan for that, it can overflow like other reviewers said. It rose beautifully, very fluffy. Endeavor it with italian meringue, yuuummmm!
01/03/2006
Extremely easy to make, and it tastes excellant! I had to cook it a fleck longer then required.
02/23/2009
Followed exactly and information technology turned out merely like I thought it would.
06/25/2007
Tastes a little buttery but it'due south lite and exactly what I was looking for to make a birthday block. I used some spreadable fruit (raspberry) betwixt the layers and poured the "Pro-Ganache" over it (recipe from this site - that is SOOO skilful!) and decorated with fresh raspberries. Simple and crawly!!
xi/29/2005
I used this recipe to brand cupcakes for my daughter's class and they turned out delicious. I had many parents and teachers tell me how good they were. Thanks for a delicious, fabricated from scratch, block recipe.
08/20/2009
This is not a good cake. It is very dry.
03/05/2004
I made this for my mum's birthday, and had many compliments near information technology! It was cute spread with fresh whipped cream and topped with sliced strawberries and pansies. Next time I'd make two layers, and sandwich them together with raspberry jam or cooled custard.
08/17/2001
I LOVED this block! My fellow 5th Graders loved information technology too and theyn asked me to broil it once more and again! I likewise broiled information technology for my family and they loved it too. I will e'er use this recipe to broil any sort of cake.
04/08/2000
WOW - this block is and then good!
12/24/2007
Amazing cake!! Made three circular eight" cakes, and added red nutrient coloring to the middle layer to get in pinkish, as well as swirled in a fleck of dry cocoa, and so completely copied another reviewer by using raspberry preserves (mixed with crushed, frozen raspberries) between each of the layers, icing information technology with the pro ganache from this site, and so using raspberries on top and to decorate the base. It turned out VERY good! The block wasn't too heavy/sugariness, but was balanced nicely with the fruit, and the whole thing was succulent. And, although people say this all the time on this site (haha), my sis actually said, "This could be store-bought," and then corrected herself and said it was better than a shop-bought cake! It was for my mom's birthday and she loved information technology =).
04/28/2012
Fabricated for my son'due south bday. Made with xylitol and made at altitude and information technology came out bang-up! Tastes like a real bakery cake! Moist and delicious.
10/02/2010
I made it for my friend's birthday. It came out very watery still. I wonder what i did incorrect...
06/01/2014
great recipe!!! easy to make!!!
01/08/2016
it's a good cake merely reminds me of the flavour of pancakes.
02/ten/2010
This came out delicious! Everyone commented that it tasted similar a delicious wedding block! Definitely worth the try!
05/23/2010
Edible, only BARELY. Brick-similar comes to listen. Very heavy and dense. It'd be more similar a bread than a block, if breads were even this heavy. Cooking time per recipe instructions is waaaaay off. At 35 minutes, the concoction was all the same soupy. I had to double the time. Lesson learned the hard way with this recipe... always test a recipe before serving at a part. :(
11/23/2010
Delicious and dumbo. Solid cake that makes for the yummiest cake I've E'er had. Used ALMOND flavor instead of vanilla.
08/eighteen/2010
The cake was skilful. I have not made a cake in years and I had fun making this i. I did what other people did and used almond and buttermilk. I also used an Elmo pan so I had to double the cooking time as well. The cake is a thicker cake and is sugariness as others say. I also loved eating the edges I cutting off. They were very good warm. It was very like shooting fish in a barrel to decorate. It seems the cake had a good "crust" all over elmos face. I iced information technology with pretubed icing. It looked crawly. I refrigerated it for the next day....nosotros pretty much ate information technology directly from the fridge and so I think the cake was too cold n the icing was harder than I'd like. For the next birthday party I would do a lighter batter..this one was good tho just not good for birthdays. I think doing something with strawberries would be perfect for this recipe. Will do once more and would advise to others simply make a practice one then I empathize the gustatory modality. Also calculation a filling would exist so good!
12/25/2012
OH Wow!! This cake is bully! Very TASTY,SWEET and had a practiced density. Close to a pound block kind of dense. I frosted information technology just with Cool Whip and made a simple strawberry sauce just it didn't demand it at all, altho tasted slap-up together! Definitely a keeper for birthday cakes or someday you want a special and very unproblematic block :)
04/09/2001
Very stable and tasty. Mine took a bit longer to cook than the time stated. It was worth the extra attempt to whip the egg whites. The cake rose very nicely and made a lovely altogether block.
04/18/2000
This cake is tasty and great if you lot're going to cutting it out to form a design to match your altogether party theme. My brother ate merely well-nigh the whole thing in one sitting!
11/03/2013
This is a great cake recipe! Nosotros made cupcakes, as that is what my daughter wanted for her birthday. We added colored sprinkles for confetti cupcakes. The texture is lovely - similar to a cake mix but without disintegrating, as I observe is the instance with cakes made from mix. As for the egg smell and taste that other reviewers mentioned, I didn't find that at all. I did, however, use a generous amount of quality vanilla. My proposition to those who found it nether-cooked in the middle, is to reduce temperature downwardly to approximately 323 C for a few extra minutes (afterwards the initial cooking fourth dimension.) This allows the centre to fully cook without browning the lesser and edges. (I frequently do this with assistant loaves, as well.) This is my new become-to recipe for altogether cakes!
09/16/2006
I am very Disapointed in this cake. It came out tasting like flour. I would not recomend this recipe.
04/xiv/2010
Just like some of the other reviewers I found this cake to be very dense and the recipe a bit hard to piece of work with. I followed the recipe to the letter but found the batter quite thick before folding in the whites so I added a lot (ane/2 C +) more milk as others suggested. I'k giving information technology three stars because the taste was good enough for me to give the recipe some other endeavour.
08/17/2006
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE Baked THIS Block. FIRST TIME Information technology MUST HAVE WEIGHED 50 LBS. AND It WAS Not A SUCCESS.THIS WAS ALSO MY Starting time Block FROM SCRATCH I EVER BAKED AND I KINDA PACKED THE FLOUR INTO THE MEASURING CUP :) THIS Fourth dimension Information technology WAS MUCH, MUCH BETTER. It WAS But RIGHT EXCEPT I CANT Always Get It TO BAKE RIGHT..I BAKED IT FOR 50 MINS. AT 350. THE Eye STARTED TO CRACK AND THE EDGES WERE VERY BROWN. SO THE CAKE IS KIND OF Dry out At present...BUT IT TASTES SOOOO Skilful. I Will EAT It Merely THE REST OF THE FAMILY WILL PRETEND TO Exist CHOKING ON IT CAUSE ITS DRY.
03/xix/2010
This is at present our official altogether cake recipe! So yummy delish! It is and so buttery and is not besides sweet merely perfect. It is so calorie-free and fluffy I am non sure why others said it was heavy. Someone said information technology was dry out and crumbly, all I can think of is that they whipped the eggwhites too much. This recipe makes swell cupcakes besides! When I made it the cake rose up but as it was cooling fell in a piddling bit, merely that did not effect the taste. Heavenly!
05/12/2007
THIS CAKE IS SOOO YUMMMY I LOVVVEEE Information technology TRUST ME YOU WANT TO Brand THIS CAKE
10/nineteen/2000
I had to charge per unit this at the pinnacle for each category, because for a "from scratch" cake, this is quick and piece of cake -- Betty Crocker can't match it. If you follow the instructions and don't overwhip the egg whites (should be just able to stand up on the finish of the beaters, simply shouldn't resemble the early stages of styrofoam (!). I made this in three 9-in. layers and used my own "throw-together" buttercream icing. I made it two weeks before my daughter's 2d birthday to test information technology and information technology passed -- she ate a big piece (she doesn't eat sweets, generally) and the party guests gave generous compliments. This is THE Merely xanthous cake recipe for me.
04/twenty/2008
This is my offset homemade birthday cake. I cut the recipe in half to make a smaller cake, and used 1/2c sugar and 1/2c splenda then followed the residual of the recipe exactly. Put 'Quick Fudge Icing' on top, Information technology TURNED OUT WONDERFUL!
02/04/2011
This is the Best cake. I've been making it for years!!!
02/26/2012
I could swear I followed the recipe exactly, so who knows what went wrong.
03/12/2004
I`ve made this recipe dozens of times with excellent results. Whether information technology`s cupcakes for piffling ones or birthday block for seniors, all have raved about it. Every bit for those reviewers who didn`t like, let them swallow other cake:)
12/26/2006
This cake was alright! It dries out very quickly though fifty-fifty though I was keeping it sealed in a cake pan. It was also very crumbly and I followed the directions exactly. How can I continue it moist the side by side time I make it?
05/25/2010
This recipe was awesomeeeeeeeee!!! I used it for my son´s altogether cake in a Wilton Elmo pan and turned out perfect. I did cook it longer though. No i believed me that it was a homemade block. I made cup cakes and the batter was great for that too. Definitely a keeper.
04/nineteen/2011
This cake is very crumbly nearly like cornbread. I like dumbo cakes but this one was too crumbly and dry. My guest idea it was foreign for a cake to exist falling apart the way information technology did
03/20/2011
Admittedly amazing! I made this for my mother's birthday party and anybody raved about information technology!
11/14/2009
I exercise non consider myself an practiced baker, just my girl warmed my heart when she asked me to broil her 5th Birthday cake myself. I was looking for an easy cake recipe. This cake was easy to make & had a bang-up sense of taste-I received lots of compliments on it! I used the recipe for the wedding cake icing from this website & simply added h2o until I got a spreading consistency that I liked.
03/24/2010
This is a nifty recipe. I made two batches for my son's 2nd birthday. Ane was in a 9x13 pan and the other in a Wilton 3-D Cruiser cake pan, both came out great, though the one in the Wilton pan took about 30 minutes longer in the oven. The only change I made was to add near a one-half teaspoon of almond excerpt to each cake. Delicious! Will make again.
05/10/2000
This is one of the best cakes E'er. It was perfect for decorating (Wilton-fashion) and the taste was out of this world. I used this cake for a Babe Shower at work and everyone loved it.
06/08/2008
very piece of cake to follow recipe. i liked the cake, but i found the texture to be somewhat strange. all in all it was pretty good.
05/28/2007
True it was heavy and pretty dry out, but information technology was too tasty and served very well the purpose I needed it for. I wouldn't use this recipe for but any occasion, but in need of a cake sturdy enough to support heavy fillings and decorations: jelly layers, buttercream icing, marzipan cover and decorations, etc... it was bully.
05/26/2001
I made this block for my sons birthday and it was astonishing. Since I used fresh vanilla instaed of the extract it actually tastes like Vanilla ICE-CREAM! Kids LOVED Information technology! Thanks for posting information technology. Also it didn't do the separate egg thing and it still turned out wonderful
03/29/2004
Hands down, this recipe beats a store bought block mix by a mile! I accept never prepared a "from scratch" block before, simply after having "Happy Birthday Block," I'll probably never buy a store bought cake mix again. Though this recipe was more dense than a store bought mix, I prefer information technology that way. And the flavor and texture was simply astonishing. I used "Wedding Cake Frosting" as another reviewer suggested, and the match was absolutely perfect. My wife loved it!
08/27/2010
This cake has been a total disappointment. This is my first time making it and it totally crumbled. I don't even accept a cake. I fabricated information technology for my daughter's B-24-hour interval. The taste is actually good, but no mode can it be made into a cake. I will need to skip on this cake since I have no thought how to fifty-fifty set it.
04/18/2003
The block tastes like plain muffin. No gustation at all. Non recommended for birthday party the guests will be disapointed.I volition non bake it over again.
04/02/2005
This was kind of a weird recipe. It wasn't really what I was looking for. It wasn't besides sugariness, and information technology was very dumbo. It is probably a corking block for a strawberry shortcake dessert, simply I am not certain well-nigh a altogether cake. Of form, I couldn't use this as the birthday cake that I was blistering for my best friend, because I dropped half of it on the flooring when I turned it out of its pan. I guess it was a good thing that happened, considering I was able to go for another yellow block recipe that was more than of what I was looking for.
02/01/2006
This block was non good. It had a flour taste and fifty-fifty my kids would not eat it.I followed the directions to a T and I was very dissappointed. I am and then glad I tried it earlier serving it as my sons birthday cake
xi/03/2000
Neat. Uesed a 9x13 pan. Didn't have regular butter, used unsalted butter. I am not good at whipping egg whites so I added the eggs whole. I would brand this recipe once more.
03/11/2012
This has become my go-to block recipe. I become rave reviews every fourth dimension I get in. Thank you for sharing this great recipe!
07/30/2007
Dense merely very flavorful and worked well.
03/19/2017
Made with no changes. Turned out very heavy and dry and pretty boring flavor. I probably should have sifted all the flour so that's probably on me. Would not take chances making once again though. : (
12/31/2011
It was just ok, more like angle food block. I used bakers sugar and cake flour in hopes of a light and fluffy cake. I did non want a dense block like others spoke of- No luck.
04/08/2005
This is very like to a pound cake recipe. House, slices great without aging. I made double the recipe and used the other rounds for strawberry short cake.
06/25/2018
Information technology was alright for my first endeavour at a scratch cake just information technology was dry and didn't have much flavor. It wasn't yellowish at all but looked white. I think I might try another recipe.
05/eighteen/2012
Baked this twice and it was denser than I thought. I didn't split up the eggs the second fourth dimension but got similar results. I would add more vanilla extract (peradventure a tablespoon) for more flavor. However it pairs nicely with calorie-free whipped cream and some berries :)
12/31/2010
Block turned out perfect, dense and delicious! Followed the recipe exactly, however I did accept to broil a 9x13 pan for virtually 50 minutes before it was washed, I retrieve the smaller pans would melt faster.
03/30/2017
I was looking for a block for my son'due south birthday party. I chose to follow the instructions to the letter rather than brand whatsoever adjustments I read about in the reviews. Information technology came out perfect! The texture was at first similar a cross between an angel food block and a pound cake. Subsequently sitting a day information technology settled to the exact texture of altogether block. Information technology'southward moist and study, rich in flavor not too sweet.
